Environment Art Mentorship with Gabriel Cervantes

OVERVIEW

Get personalized guidance from Naughty Dog’s Gabriel Cervantes, with live demos centered around highly used environment pipeline techniques, progress reviews, and detailed paintovers to refine and strengthen your work.

Gabriel will help you craft strong environment compositions with clear focal points and visual interest. You’ll learn how to present your work in a way that demonstrates a solid understanding of industry pipelines and processes. He’ll also cover the importance of modular and optimized workflows, and how to tell compelling visual stories through environment set dressing.

By the end of this mentorship, you should have a clearer understanding of the environment art workflow in a professional studio. You will know about widely used techniques in the AAA games space, such as working modularly, utilizing tileable and trim textures, setting up master shaders for blending and RGB masking, and many other practices.

 

THIS MENTORSHIP IS IDEAL FOR

Advanced-junior to experienced game artists.You should have a good grasp of 3D tools and basic production workflows to get the most out of the mentorship.

Gabriel Cervantes
Lead Environment Artist

Gabriel Cervantes is currently a Senior Environment Artist at Naughty Dog working on their newest IP, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. With over 10 years in the games industry, he has credits as an Environment Artist in AAA games including, The Last of Us : Part OneLone Echo 2, Nvidia’s Marbles RTX demo, and several Call of Duty titles.

Alongside working in games, He is also an instructor at Gnomon, teaching “Props and Weapons for Games,” as well as a Mentor at Think Tank School helping with student’s environment finals. Prior to joining the Games Industry, Gabriel was apart of the Post-VFX Movie industry for about 5 years as a senior stereoscopic artist, working on memorable titles such as Marvel’s Avengers 3DTitanic 3D, and the Shrek Trilogy in 3D.
